King County Sheriff Deputy Should be Fired and Convicted of Assault

Today KOMO 4 TV posted the video showing a King County Sheriff’s Deputy assault a 15 year old girl in a holding cell.  The Deputy, Paul Schene, 31, is seen kicking, striking and shoving the girl into a wall before knocking her down to the ground.  While on the ground, Deputy Schene is seen striking the girl again on the top of the head at least two times.  Another deputy assists Schene while the girl is laying on the ground motionless.

Deputy Schene has been charged with criminal assault charges, and rightly so.  The video is rather shocking and disturbing.  First, the victim is a minor child, just 15 years old.  Second, the minor is a female so she clearly does not represent a threat to Deputy Schene.  And lastly, the video clearly shows that the young girl did nothing to provoke such a violent attack.  The video does show the girl flipping her leg and foot forward in a kicking motion.  But the Deputy was no where close to being struck.  KOMO 4 reports that the girl apparently kicked off her shoe towards the deputy.  Even if that’s true, such an action by a young girl who poses no threat to the deputy should never provoke such a violent response by a law enforcement officer.

Predictably, the King County Sheriff’s Department has gone into damage control.  The County’s long-time attorney, Anne Bremner, is quoted as saying that the video doesn’t tell “the whole story.”  Yeah right.  What possibly could Deputy Schene make up or say that would explain why his violent attack on the girl was necessary?  Especially when it is so very clear that the deputy’s life or safety was never in danger.  For God’s sake, the girl was in a holding cell and not posing a threat.  She had no weapon.  She was also inside the holding cell.  Yet, Ms. Bremner may try to argue that the girl’s shoe being kicked off was an act of assault on her part. I doubt a jury will buy that bill of goods.

I’m sure this girl taunted and provoked Deputy Schene.  Perhaps called him a name or two.  So what.  The deputy is supposed to be a professional.  At least we hope our law enforcement officers act professionally.

The citizens of King County should demand that Deputy Schene be fired immediately.  His trial for 4th Degree Assault should go forward.  Furthermore, the young girl should pursue civil charges agains the deputy and King County for a clear violation of her civil rights.

One Response to King County Sheriff Deputy Should be Fired and Convicted of Assault

  1. Harry Rag says:

Anne Bremner has vigorously campaigned for the release of Amanda Knox – a sadistic sex killer. She has repeatedly misled the media and the public with a number of false claims.

She may be able to suppress the truth about what happened when she was arrested by blocking the release of the investigative reports and video.

However, she won’t be able to suppress the truth about Amanda Knox. The English translation of Judge Massei’s report can be downloaded from here:
