A mechanical contractor with its headquarters in Woodinville, Washington has settled a wrongful death case filed against it. W.A. Botting Company has agreed to pay $4,000,000 to settle a wrongful death case filed in King County Superior Court. The case arises out of a 2007 traffic accident that claimed the life of Sandy Johnson, 41. The accident occurred when an employee of W.A. Botting fell asleep while driving a company vehicle and went off the road. The employee then broadsided another vehicle that was being driven by Ms. Johnson, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Johnson left four children, including three minors ages 5, 6 and 13.

Ms. Johnson’s three minor children were split up to live with family relatives. All three minors have been tested for special needs. The settlement proceeds will be divided among the children based on their needs, with most likely going to pay the two younger children now ages 6 and 7. Although a settlement has been reached, it still must be approved by the King County Superior Court.
Seattle attorney Chris Davis represented Ms. Johnson’s estate and the interests of her four surviving children. The case was settled after the parties participated in two separate mediation sessions. The case also settled within two weeks before trial.
