New research indicates that after humans maintain a high-fat diet, they begin to show injuries in their brain. By continuously eating that unhealthy junk, the hypothalamus in the brain will show evidence of serious inflammation and structural damage. This is the area of the brain that regulates weight.
University of Washington and other institutions believe they found evidence that associates this injury with obesity.
The findings of the research suggest that human body weight can be controlled by neuronal injury in the brain area. With obesity being a major problem in the United States, this information is crucial.
In a survey, it was recorded that adults singled out obesity as their top health issue. The survey was commissioned by Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Obesity worries beat out cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and aging. Obesity topped cancer 3 to 1.
The research also found that of the 600 adults in the Puget Sound-area counties, more than half of them have gained 10 pounds in the past decade.
The human brains were closely looked at through MRI scans. Of course, this is just a small step in the right direction. Researchers have a long ways to go. If you want to stay brain healthy, consider the food that you are consuming each day to prevent brain injury.
