KOMO TV News reports that a Rochester, Washington woman died in a fatal car accident. She had been using her cell phone to text when she crossed the center line and crashed head on into a semi-truck. The woman, Ashley Davis-Jones, age 22, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Washington State Patrol found an open cell phone on the floor of the vehicle. They determined that she had been texting on the phone just prior to the accident.
Our hearts and prayers go out to this young woman’s family. This is unfortunately a tragic reminder of what can happen when drivers use their cell phone to text while driving, especially while traveling at high speeds on a major highway.
We urge everyone who drives a motor vehicle, truck or motorcycle to put down your cell phone while driving. Do not create such a dangerous distraction.
